Shortly after Vergara turns 51, they announce their separation. She celebrated the occasion with friends in Italy, but no pictures featuring Manganiello were shared on her Instagram.
On July 10, Manganiello did honour Vergara by sharing an old photo of the two of them and wishing her a happy birthday on social media.
Sofia Vergara, aged 46, and Manganiello had crossed paths multiple times before their romantic relationship began. However, their first official date took place on June 15, 2014, a month after Vergara called off her engagement to businessman Nick Loeb.
According to the story, Manganiello discovered that Vergara was single while he was traveling for work. He obtained her number from his co-star Jesse Tyler Ferguson and arranged a meeting in New Orleans. In a 2015 interview with Haute Living, Manganiello revealed that during their first date, Sofia Vergara listed every reason why their relationship wouldn’t work out. She mentioned factors such as age, acting career, and various other concerns, but Manganiello saw it as her attempt to convince herself not to get involved.
This initial interaction left an impression on Manganiello, who went on to make every effort to win Vergara over. He acknowledged her need for independence during an appearance on SiriusXM’s “The Jess Cagle Show” in 2022, stating that while he couldn’t promise to be there at the end of her self-discovery journey, he would support her. Life was too short to hold her back.
During this conversation, Manganiello pulled out an issue of People magazine that referred to him as the “World’s Number One Bachelor.” With a playful tone, he emphasized his title, causing Sofia Vergara to playfully turn the magazine around and check who else made the list.
Vergara’s sharp wit played a role in Manganiello’s fascination with her. On “Good Morning America,” when questioned about how their relationship began, Vergara playfully replied that Manganiello couldn’t resist her attraction when he first smelled her.
She counseled others to pursue their desires if they had any.
In December 2014, Manganiello proposed to Sofia Vergara during a romantic sunset setting on Christmas Eve. A source described their love as genuine and highlighted the affectionate way they spoke and touched each other.
Eleven months later, the couple celebrated their wedding at The Breakers in Palm Beach, Florida, surrounded by 400 guests. Among the esteemed attendees, Channing Tatum, renowned for his role alongside Manganiello in “Magic Mike XXL,” shared the spotlight with Hollywood icons Arnold Schwarzenegger and Reese Witherspoon. Adding to the event’s star-studded atmosphere, the cherished ensemble from “Modern Family,” consisting of Ty Burrell, Ed O’Neill, Sarah Hyland, and Eric Stonestreet, delighted attendees with their presence, truly elevating the occasion.
The wedding festivities were truly extravagant. As revealed by an insider, the celebration featured a “Magic Mike”-inspired dance routine to the tune of the Backstreet Boys’ hit song “I Want It That Way,” specifically arranged for the bride. Co-star Julie Bowen humorously commented that attending Vergara’s wedding was like boarding a trolley—drinking, dancing, and enjoying the party before jumping off. Staying on the “party train” for three days was out of the question—it was an experience filled with pure excitement.
For their first wedding anniversary, Manganiello continued his tradition of grand gestures. He revealed in a 2017 interview with Cosmopolitan UK that he had written a book as a gift for Vergara. The book chronicled their journey from the moment they met and delved into their courtship, spanning approximately 40 pages.
